The Managing Director of the Local Authorities Superannuation Fund (LASF), Mr. Milner Mooba, paid a courtesy call on the Registrar of the Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA), Mrs. Namakau Mundia Ntini. The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between LASF and PIA as Zambia advances its pension reform agenda.
During the engagement, Mrs. Ntini highlighted PIA’s regulatory mandate while expressing satisfaction that the country is moving decisively toward reforms aimed at strengthening the pension landscape.
She emphasized the importance of adopting a holistic approach to pension reforms, including effective supervision of both public and private schemes. She further commended LASF for its consistent cooperation in providing statistical data and sector insights, stressing that such collaboration enables the Authority to maintain a comprehensive view of the national pension environment and design appropriate interventions.
And Mr. Mooba echoed the importance of continued partnership between LASF and PIA, particularly as the nation prepares for the repeal and replacement of the LASF Act. He noted that the reforms will usher in a contributory pension scheme, making stakeholder engagement and collaboration with regulatory bodies critical for a smooth transition.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen cooperation and ensure that pension reforms are implemented in a transparent and inclusive manner, ultimately safeguarding the retirement security of employees across the country.
