The Local Authorities Superannuation Fund (LASF) has once again demonstrated its commitment to integrity and accountability through the work of its Integrity Committee.
Recently, the Committee handled a case involving a gift received by Mrs. Kalwa Chimense, a Benefits Officer at the Fund. In line with LASF’s Gift Policy, staff members who receive gifts in the course of duty are required to surrender them to the Committee.
This policy ensures that all gifts are assessed transparently and disposal decisions made in the best interest of the institution.

Once the gift was submitted, the Integrity Committee convened to deliberate on the appropriate way to dispose of it. Guided by the established procedures, the Committee has several options at its disposal: donating to the community, returning the gift to the sender, giving it back to the receiver, or distributing it among LASF staff members.
After careful consideration, the Committee decided to return the gift to Mrs. Chimense, reaffirming the Fund’s commitment to fairness and ethical standards in managing such matters.
This process underscores LASF’s proactive approach in maintaining integrity, accountability, and professionalism. By adhering to clear and transparent procedures, the Fund continues to foster a culture of trust and responsibility among its employees and stakeholders.
