This legislation fundamentally transformed LASF by extending membership to all permanent officers and employees of local authorities, explicitly opening the door to Zambian nationals who were previously excluded.<\/p>\n<p>Over time, LASF\u2019s mandate evolved to include what are known as <strong>Associated Authorities<\/strong> that provided services previously delivered by Local Authorities but had since become autonomous or commercialized entities. NAPSA on 1<sup>st<\/sup> February 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Following Cabinet approval in January 2025, Parliament passed the Local Authorities Superannuation Act No. 74 of 2026, which repealed and replaced the Cap. 284 framework. The Act was signed into law by President Hakainde Hichilema on 4<sup>th<\/sup> June 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Today, LASF stands at the intersection of a proud history and a renewed mandate.
